Apptopia Retention Data

How does Apptopia Retention data work?

Apptopia retention data is designed to provide a snapshot of a particular app's retention, averaged, by day, for a given month. Retention data is modeled from developer console data which provides to developers, the current d1, d2, d3, etc. data each day.

At the beginning of each month, Apptopia looks back at what d1 data, for example, was each day during the prior month and provides the average of that data in the Apptopia web tool.

In the example below, Apptopia found the average of the daily reported D7 retention in January to be 15.29%. This means, there were days in January where D7 retention were higher than 15.29% and others where it was lower, but when thinking about what was the average D7 retention in January, removing the ups and downs of particularly good and bad days, D7 retention was 15.29%

Apptopia believes that by smoothing the ups and downs and presenting a monthly average, users can obtain a more accurate view of what retention looked like for a given app at a given period of time.
